Ansiel threatened the conference pole vault record that has long been dominated by former Cedarville NCAA qualifier James Blackwell.
Inside the Doden Field House at the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational, Ansiel cleared 4.87m (15’ 11.75”) to provisionally qualify for nationals and rank top 25 in the country.
He also ranks fourth all-time in the conference record books behind Blackwell’s top standard of 4.93m at the G-MAC Indoor Championships in 2015.
Ansiel won the event on Saturday with eight other heights cleared.
