Maryssa Herbert has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conferences Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week. In three matches last week, Cedarville concluded a perfect 4-0 G-MAC season with its 9-0 win over Central State. The Yellow Jackets then participated in the NCCAA regionals, winning its first-round matchup with Spring Arbor on Thursday. The season concluded with a loss to Indiana Wesleyan on Friday.

Herbert defeated Katie Storer in #6 singles and teamed with Melissa Stoltzfus to win #3 doubles in a 5-2 win over Spring Arbor. Against Indiana Wesleyan, Herbert and Stoltzfus earned the teams only point in #3 doubles with a 8-5 win.

On the season, Herbert finished 17-2 in singles, going 3-0 at #3 singles, 2-0 at #4 singles, 3-0 at #5 singles, and 9-2 at #6 singles. She was 6-5 in doubles, including a 5-1 record at #3 doubles paired with Stoltzfus.

Note: The G-MAC, in its inaugural season, sponsors women’s tennis currently with three programs (Cedarville, Central State, and Ursuline), and will expand to include at least six programs next year. With an expanded season, the Athlete of the Week honors will cover both the fall and spring sessions.
