Berger was crowned the NCAA Midwest Regional individual champion with another noteworthy performance in her senior season. The reigning Great Midwest Runner of the Year earned weekly league honors for the fourth time this season.
The Cavaliers’ women placed third out of 28 programs from either the Great Midwest, GLVC or GLIAC. Walsh qualified for the NCAA Championships in Evansville, Ind., along with the Walsh men’s program and also the Hillsdale women’s program.
Berger headlined three Great Midwest competitors that crossed the finish line in order 1, 2 and 3, with a time of 21:19.30 at Cedarville’s Elvin R. King Course.
Teammates Andra Lehotay and Brianna Coy joined Berger on stage as members of the USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region Team.
Berger, who already owns the all-time conference 6K and 5K records, clocked the fourth-best 6K time in league history.
