Tooley was the individual medalist at the Midwest Regional hosted by Missouri-St. Louis at Fox Run. The sophomore emerged out a playoff to best a field out of 109 competitors for his first collegiate tournament title.
Under first-year head coach Ken Badylak, the Panthers are flourishing this fall, showing more than 16 strokes of improvement per round as a team compared to a year ago.
KWC finished seventh at the Midwest Regional out of 21 teams, all from either the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Tooley finished with a two-round total of 143 (71-72) before forcing a playoff with Drury’s Craig Stefaurak. Stefaurak held a three-shot lead going into the final round of play.
With an eighth-place finish at the Otter Creek Invitational, the talented sophomore now has two top-10 placings so far this year. He lowered his team-leading scoring average to 73.76 in 8.5 rounds played and currently ranks ninth in the league.
