Kelly was the men’s medalist at the Great Midwest Fall Invitational with an asterisk marking a fun career superlative with his first hole-in-one.
The sophomore found red numbers on the first day of competition with a 70 (-2) that featured his ace on the par-3 12th hole. He holed out from 158 yards away with a 9-iron.
The Oilers had a team score of 436 through 1.5 rounds of play to hold off runner-up Malone by seven strokes. Kelly also had a 69 (-3) earlier this year at the Watrous Intercollegiate, tied for the second-best round in the league this season.
Kelly edged out Malone’s Kyle Barnett for first place by one shot in the individual race.
Through 5.5 rounds and three events, Kelly now sports a 72.0 scoring average for the Oilers this season.
