About the Role:
The Championships and Operations Coordinator Postgraduate Internship is an exciting, hands-on opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the success of 26 annual conference championship events. This role is ideal for recent graduates seeking a career in collegiate athletics administration, event operations, or sports management.

Key Responsibilities:
ON-SITE CHAMPIONSHIP ADMINISTRATION (35%)
  • Travel to and assist in the on-site execution of all 26 conference championships.
  • Help set up and break down championship venues, including placing signage, arranging seating, preparing athlete equipment, and testing AV and scoring systems.
  • Provide logistical support during events, working closely with staff, volunteers, and officials to ensure a seamless experience for athletes and spectators.
  • Post-event responsibilities include dismantling equipment, packaging and transporting materials, and venue clean-up.
CHAMPIONSHIP INVENTORY / PRE-EVENT ADMINISTRATION (40%)
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of championship manuals and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with campus compliance administrators to verify participant eligibility.
  • Develop championship action plans, managing materials such as signage, merchandise, and equipment for each event.
  • Maintain inventory of championship merchandise, track usage and sales, and oversee storage organization in the Indianapolis office.
  • Lead the championship survey initiative to gather post-event feedback from athletes and coaches.
CONFERENCE OPERATIONS (20%)
  • Support daily operations of the conference office and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Engage in the governance process by preparing meeting materials and attending select governance meetings.
  • Attend Joint Council meetings and other relevant summits hosted by the conference.
MEETINGS (5%)
  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings, presenting project updates and contributing to ongoing office discussions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree (in progress or completed) in Sport Management, Athletic Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong interest in collegiate athletics and championship operations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively, work long hours during championship events, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
