Thomas More Tabbed Athletic Training Staff of the Year

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Thomas More University was officially honored with the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year Award for 2025-26 as part of the league’s annual sport staff meetings conducted this week.
 
The Athletic Trainers, Sports Information Directors, and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representatives from the Great Midwest will meet this week in Columbus to prepare for the upcoming academic year.
 
This is the 13th announcement of the award in the league’s 15 year history and represents the Saints’ first time winning the award since joining the league in 2022.
 
“We are incredibly thankful for our St. Elizabeth Athletic Trainers for all they do to keep our Thomas More Student-Athletes safe and healthy while competing,” said Thomas More Athletic Director Terry Connor. “Their commitment extends far beyond game day, as they provide exceptional care, guidance, and support throughout the year. We are grateful for their partnership and the positive impact they make on the success and well-being of our student-athletes.”
 
For the Saints, their team of seven full-time athletic trainers is led by Theresa Behan. Behan is joined by Danielle Piening, Ethan Fleming, Heidi Zwick, Kelly Bachmann, Sierra Besser-Paul, and Griffin Werth. The team help provided athletic training support at both the golf and bowling championships this past season and proved to be an integral role in the success of the championship. The AT department at Thomas More successfully covers 21 NCAA sponsored sports and 10 club programs.
