AKRON, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference crowned a new softball tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Findlay Oilers outlasted the Ashland Eagles at Firestone Stadium to claim the program’s first G-MAC Tournament Championship.
 
The Oilers were looking to cruise to victory, leading 9-0 after four innings of play but the Eagles came storming back in the top of the fifth. They would plate three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to crawl back into the game 9-5. Findlay would slam the door closed in the seventh, claiming the G-MAC Tournament crown.
 
Findlay now claims the Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Other members will await the selection show, hoping for an at large bid. The selection show can be streamed on May 10^th at 10 P.M. at NCAA.com.
