INDIANAPOLIS- Tiffin’s Anthony Aniciete and Ashland’s Fletcher Rose were voted as Wrestler and Freshman of the Year in a poll of the league’s head coaches. Antonio Guerra of Tiffin was tabbed as the Great Midwest Coach of the Year.
Aniciete was named the conference’s top wrestler after a stellar 2026 season. He finished 17-2 on the year and earned runner-up stats at national in the 125 lbs. weight class. Aniciete’s performance earned him his first all-American honor. At the conference meet, the sophomore took home gold in the 125 lbs. weight class. Aniciete is just the second Tiffin Dragon to finish as a national runner-up.
Ashland’s Fletcher Rose had a memorable freshman season, recording a regular season record of 31-0. Those 31 wins included four pins, two tech falls, and eight major decisions. The Freshman qualified for the national championship meet at 184 lbs.
Tiffin’s Antonio Guerra was voted by his peers as the league’s top coach. Guerra landed five individuals on the first-team all-conference list with a second place team finish at the conference championship. Tiffin finished third at regionals with four individuals qualifying for nationals. Most recently, Guerra was named Super Region Three Coach of the Year to cap off a successful 2026 season.
Thomas More’s Zach Watson earned the Elite 26 Award for academic excellence. Watson is a senior majoring in Biology.
It was another successful wrestling season for the conference as 10 wrestlers qualified for nationals.
