INDIANAPOLIS – The opening two weeks of the 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) stunt season delivered non-stop action, featuring high-profile non-conference tournaments and pivotal early-season conference matchups. Teams traveled across the Midwest to test their rosters, with Ashland, Tiffin, and Malone all jumping out to strong early records.
Ashland Eagles (4-2 Overall, 2-0 G-MAC)
The Eagles faced a gauntlet to start their season in Lexington, dropping their opening matches to Kentucky (30-9) and Trevecca Nazarene (23-20). However, Ashland quickly found its rhythm, sweeping their Day 2 matchups with a dominant 19-2 victory over St. Edward's and a hard-fought 22-15 win against Purdue Northwest.
Ashland carried that momentum into their home opener on February 8, asserting dominance in conference play. The Eagles stifled Walsh 21-1 before putting on an offensive clinic against Tiffin, securing a massive 35-16 victory to cap off a 4-0 run since opening day.
Tiffin Dragons (4-2 Overall, 1-1 G-MAC)
Tiffin also kicked off their season in Lexington, splitting their opening day with a tough 27-9 loss to Mercyhurst and a 21-14 bounce-back win over Purdue Northwest. The Dragons caught fire on Day 2, easily dismantling St. Edward's (21-6) and Northern Kentucky (26-7).
Entering G-MAC play in Ashland on February 8, the Dragons put together a brilliant 24-8 victory over Walsh before running into a red-hot Ashland squad, ultimately falling 35-16. Tiffin leaves the opening weeks with a solid winning record and plenty of momentum to build on.
Malone Pioneers (2-0 Overall)
The Pioneers had a picture-perfect start to their 2026 campaign during their weekend trip to South Bend, Indiana. Malone's offense was firing on all cylinders on February 7, as they outpaced Lewis University 32-16. They followed up with a spectacular defensive performance later that day, shutting down Saint Mary’s College in a decisive 23-2 victory.
Walsh Cavaliers (1-2 Overall, 1-2 G-MAC) & Ursuline Arrows (0-1 Overall, 0-1 G-MAC)
Walsh and Ursuline opened up G-MAC conference play against one another on February 6 in Pepper Pike, OH. The Cavaliers controlled the mat, securing a 12-2 victory to hand the Arrows an opening-day loss. Walsh then traveled to Ashland on February 8 for a challenging tri-match, where they dropped consecutive conference games to the hosting Eagles (21-1) and the Tiffin Dragons (24-8).
