On August 28, the Hillsdale College football team held its 16th annual Victory Day. Founded in 2010 by Aaron Segedi, a native of Riverview, who strongly believes that building character holds equal importance to teaching his students, Victory Day gives a full football experience to special needs individuals in the community. Participants were hosted by a Hillsdale College football player, served dinner, given a tour of the facility and went through an hour and a half of fun football activities on the field with the Charger team, including kicking extra points, passing, catching and running touchdown plays. The group also was invited to attend the Chargers' home opener against McKendree on Sept. 5, running on the field with the Chargers football team, serving as honorary captains and participating in a halftime event.
