INDIANAPOLIS- Week five of men’s soccer in the Great Midwest Athletic conference wrapped up on Saturday, Sept. 26. This week, a majority of the games were fairly low scoring, and teams battled to the wire. Thomas More currently sits at the top spot in the conference leaderboard, while Tiffin follows closely behind at second.

Game Highlights:
  • Cedarville won 3-0 over Northwood on Thursday behind goals from Chris Guyot, Bryan Cortina and Parker Burke. Defensively, they held the Timberwolves without a shot attempt in the first half. On Saturday against the Ashland Eagles, Eddie Merck scored twice, including the game-winning goal less than two minutes after Ashland scored their first. The Yellow Jackets secured a 2-1 win on the road.
  • Findlay battled to the end against Lake Erie 2-1 on Thursday. Tom Middleham opened the scoring and then Carson Oberski performed a 54th-minute header that proved to be the game-winner. Tyson Woodring assisted on both goals as the Oilers held on for the conference victory.
  • Thomas More earned two conference wins this past week, defeating Ohio Dominican 1-0 before beating Malone 2-0, holding both teams scoreless. Ramzi Termanini scored the only goal against Ohio Dominican. Will Fox and Nils Waltemode each scored in the final 10 minutes against Malone. Goalkeeper Joey Jones extended his streak to four shutouts in a row.
  • Ashland secured a 3-0 victory over Walsh on Sept. 24, making it their second shutout win against the Cavaliers in the span of a week. Tom Woodward scored two goals and provided an assist, while goalkeeper Jaime Duran made 10 saves to earn himself the clean sheet.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan earned a 6-0 win against Malone on Thursday and a 1-0 win over Ohio Dominican on Saturday. Midfielder Jersey Lopez led the Panthers across both matches, tallying two goals and two assists, including the game-winner against Ohio Dominican.
  • Lake Erie won a 2-0 shutout against Walsh, by scoring a goal in both halves to claim the conference win. Veljko Radovanovic led the charge with a goal and an assist, while Patrick Bassett stopped four shots.
  • No. 17 Tiffin overcame a tie at halftime with an early goal in the second half to edge Northwood 2-1 on Saturday. Callum Ellington netted the game-winner in the 52nd minute off Noah Purtz's second assist of the day.
