INDIANAPOLIS -- Competition intensified this week as programs returned from winter training blocks. The University of Findlay traveled for a high-profile showdown against the University of Indianapolis, while Hillsdale and Ashland competed in a quad-meet hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
Findlay Oilers Face Nationally Ranked Indianapolis
The No. 8 Findlay men and No. 13 Findlay women faced one of their toughest tests of the season on Saturday, Jan. 10, traveling to Indianapolis to take on the No. 2 Greyhound men and No. 7 Greyhound women. In a battle of national powers, the Oilers demonstrated individual brilliance despite falling in the team scores.

Men's Program Highlights
The Oiler men secured several major victories and NCAA provisional marks against the second-ranked team in the country:

Sebastian Camacho Gomez led the distance group with a pair of victories, winning the 1000-yard freestyle (9:13.31) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:25.32), hitting NCAA B-cut times in both.

Camilo Andres Marrugo swept his primary events, taking first in the 50-yard freestyle (20.22) and the 100-yard butterfly (47.40), both of which were NCAA B-cut performances.

Randy Keener added a victory in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:48.08.
Women's Program Highlights
The Findlay women found success in the fly and distance events against a deep Greyhound squad:

Emily Mears-Bentley was a double winner, taking the 200-yard butterfly in an NCAA B-cut time of 2:04.81 and winning the 100-yard butterfly in 56.15.

Michelle Jativa claimed the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:34.57.

Troie Grubbs added a runner-up finish in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a B-cut time of 23.33.
Hillsdale and Ashland Compete at SVSU Quad-Meet
The Hillsdale College women and Ashland University men and women traveled to University Center, Michigan, for a quad-meet featuring Saginaw Valley State and Lake Superior State.
Hillsdale Women’s Highlights
The Chargers enjoyed a successful return to action, going 2-1 in team scoring for the day. Hillsdale defeated Ashland (145-92) and Lake Superior State (170-14) while falling to host SVSU (136-86).

Sasha Babenko continued her standout freshman campaign by winning the 50-yard freestyle (24.94) and the 100-yard backstroke (58.21). She also anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle relay.

Matilyn Wilhelmsen made a successful season debut, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.66.

Avery May secured two runner-up finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:52.03) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.34).

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Babenko, Harris, May, and Schafer took first place with a time of 3:38.75.
Ashland Eagles Highlights
The Ashland men and women faced stiff competition from host SVSU. The Eagle women battled throughout the day, led by strong performances in the breaststroke and distance events, though they came up short against the depth of Hillsdale and SVSU.

On the men's side, Ashland looked to build momentum for the second half of the season, showing improved times in the sprint freestyle and medley relays as they worked through their mid-winter training cycle.
Findlay will return home next Saturday, Jan. 17, to host Wayne State for Senior Day, while Hillsdale and Ashland prepare for upcoming dual meets later this month.
