OVERVIEW:

Great Midwest football programs entered week four of play.  The highlight of the week being the Hillsdale Chargers shutout over the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The Findlay Oilers remain undefeated with a 4-0 record overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Oilers took down the Thomas More Saints over the weekend with a final score of 37-7.  Quarterback Andrew Leonard threw for three touchdowns while wide receiver Delon Hunt caught two scores.  The Oilers accumulated 991 yards of offense and held the Saints to 177.

  • The Walsh Cavaliers hosted the Ohio Dominican Panthers during their Maroon & Gold game.  Previous to this game, both teams entered undefeated with the Cavaliers ultimately taking down the Panthers 14-7 to break their streak.  The fourth quarter is when momentum picked up for the Cavaliers, with a running back Jake Gill's touchdown run and a quarterback Cole Norris’ game-winning touchdown.  To solidify the game defensive back Ty Miller sealed the win with a one-handed interception at the goal line.  It is the Cavaliers first 4-0 start since their 2001 season.

  • The Ashland Eagles defeated the Northwood Timberwolves 21-13 in a road win.  The Eagles allowed just 13 points, 54 rushing yards, and 246 yards overall.  Quarterback Cameron Blair issued the ball to nine different receivers, posting an 18-for-22 performance with 159-yards and a touchdown. The Eagles found their best 2025 scoring with 170 yards and a TD on 41 attempts.  

  • During the Hillsdale Chargers Homecoming game, the Chargers defeated the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers in a final score of 44-0.  This was the Chargers first shutout since a 30-0 victory over the Walsh Cavaliers in 2016 and their largest margin of victory since 2017.  The Chargers found 472 yards of offense, including 308 yards on the ground on 6.2 yards per carry.

  • The Tiffin Dragons took down the Lake Erie Storm in a final score of 27-14, this was the Dragons first G-MAC win of the season.  They found ten fourth-quarter points.  The Dragons outgained the Storm 439-277,led by Running Backs Ronald Blackman’s 179-rushing yards and Tyrese Banks-Dorn late 29-yard touchdown run.  On the defensive end, linebacker Ethan Evers solidified the win with an interception to help the Dragons to victory.
