INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest Athletes of the week for September 29th, 2025 are based on student-athlete performance from September 22nd, 2025- September 28th, 2025.
Football
Defense: Ty Miller / Walsh University/ RS-So. / Defensive Back / Uniontown, Ohio
In the Cavaliers 14-7 victory over the Ohio Dominican Panthers, Ty Miller found six solo tackles including one tackle for loss. He had a one-handed interception to stop the Panthers from tying the game to ensure the Cavaliers found victory. This also aided in Walsh beating the Panthers for the first time in 13-years. This is the first time in school history that the team was 4-0 in their NCAA era.
Offense: Cameron Blair / Ashland University/ Sr. / Quarterback/ Punter/ Magnolia, Ohio
The Ashland Eagles won a road game at Northwood University with a final score of 21-13. Cameron Blair was 18-for-22 for 159 yards and found a touchdown pass, completing passes to nine different receivers. He added 52-yards and ten carries rushing. He also registered five punts for a 43.2-yard average with two punts inside the 20-yard line.
Special Teams: Damien Johnson / Ashland University/ R-Fr. / Cornerback/ Akron, Ohio
On the Special Teams side, Ashland Eagles’ Damien Johnson Jr. blocked a punt and returned it 25-yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to extend the Eagle’s lead to 14-3. That blocked punt was the Eagles 24th blocked since the start of their 2022 campaign and third blocked kick of 2025. Johnson also added a solo tackle, an assisted tackle and a half-tackle for loss.
Men’s Cross Country
Ramon Rodriguez / Tiffin University/ Sr. / Madrid, Spain
Tiffin’s Ramon Rodriguez was second overall at the Lucian Rosa Invitational at Wisconsin Parkside. Rodriguez posted one of the fastest times of the week in the conference with a time of 24:13.66. The mark was a personal best for Rodriguez and the fourth fastest 8k time in the Dragons history. His performance aided in the Dragons finishing 10th out of 24 teams.
Women’s Cross Country
Claire Rethman / Walsh University/ Sr. / Madrid, Spain
Walsh Cavaliers Claire Rethman won the Lock Haven Invitational with a time of 20:27 in the 6k, beating the rest of the field by a minute. She led the 11th-ranked women’s team in the country, a first place finish out of 21 teams.
Women’s Golf
Ashleigh Duflo / University of Findlay/ Jr. / Ada, Mich.
Ashleigh Duflo led the Oilers to wins at the Folds of Honor Challenge and the Wayne State Warrior Invite. Duflo won the Folds of Honor Challenge with scores of 68, 73, 70 (211 | -2). Aiding in qualifying the Oilers into the Folds of Honor Collegiate in 2026 and qualifies Duflo for the Patriot All-America Tournament in December, an elite amateur tournament that is invite only.
Men’s Soccer
Offensive:
Michael Catanzarite / Cedarville University/ Sr. / Forward/ Syracuse, N.Y.
Cedarville Yellow Jackets’ Michael Catanzarite had both goals in the team’s 2-1 victory over the Walsh Cavaliers. He has the game-winning goal in all five victories for the No.15-ranked Yellow Jackets.
Defensive:
Jhaeem Bryan / Kentucky Wesleyan College/ Jr. / Defense/ Manchester, Jamaica
Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers’ Jhaeem Bryan led the defensive side for the Panthers as they allowed just one goal over two G-MAC victories. As the primary defender, Bryan dominated in limiting the opponent’s shot opportunities as well with Thomas More and Ashland for just three shots on goal.
Women’s Soccer
Offensive:
Harriet Sandager / Cedarville University/ So. / Forward / Maple Grove, MN.
In the Yellow Jackets victory over the Ursuline Arrows, Harriet Sandager tallied a goal and an assist in a final score of 6-0. She added two goals in a 4-0 win at Malone.
Defensive:
Sophie Browndyke/ Cedarville University/ Sr. / Defense / West Harrison, IN.
Cedarville University Yellowjacket Sophie Browndyke guided the backline that didn’t allow a shot against the Ursuline Arrows and only allowed two shots with none on goal against the Malone Pioneers. She also aided the Yellow Jackets having matched the school record with five consecutive shutouts.
Volleyball
North Division
Hannah Miller / University of Findlay/ Jr./ Outside Hitter / Tiffin, Ohio
Findlay Oilers Hannah Miller found 30 kills while hitting .317. She added three aces and two blocks in the Oilers matchups against Heidelberg, Ohio Dominican and Ashland.
South Division
Saige Avery / Ohio Dominican University / Sr. / Setter /
ODU’s Saige Avery recorded 23 kills, a .265 hitting percentage, 59 assists, four aces, 29 digs and three blocks for the Panthers 2-1 week. She notched the only triple-double in the G-MAC this season on Tuesday, September 23 with 13 kills, 12 digs and 18 assists against Fairmont State.
East Division
Kameron Stover / Walsh University / Fr. / Right Side /Centerburg, Ohio
During the Walsh Cavaliers victory over the Malone Pioneers with a final score of 3-0, Kameron Stover recorded 17 kills, a hitting percentage of .214, one block, eight digs and 100% passing on 15 attempts.
