Enders, Sperling Named Semifinalists for 2025 Campbell Trophy

INDIANAPOLIS- The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) released their list of 117 semifinalists for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy Wednesday morning. The 36th edition of the award features 15 nominees from Division II.
 
The William V. Campbell Trophy is one of college football’s premier scholar-athlete awards and recognizes an individual as the best football scholar-athlete in the nation for academic and athletic success as well as exemplary leadership.
 
Ashland’s Ethan Enders and Hillsdale’s Hunter Sperling were selected as two of the 117 total football student-athletes across all levels of play.
 
Enders, a Marion, Ohio native, earned a spot on the first-team all-conference list during the 2024 season after anchoring an Ashland offensive line that churned out 4,596 offensive yards. Enders also earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District in 2023 and 2024.
 
Hunter Sperling, a defensive lineman from Palos Heights, Illinois, was one of the Chargers’ top defensive players last season, starting in all 11 games. He earned first-team honors with 9.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Sperling also found himself on the 2024 CSC Academic All-District list.
 
The NFF will announce 12-16 finalists on Oct. 22, with each nominee receiving an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship.
