INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has officially announced Michelle Cowman McCoy as the inaugural Excellence in Officiating Award recipient. Cowman McCoy has been officiating soccer for over fifteen years.

The Ohio native officiated the 2019 and 2020 Great Midwest Women’s Soccer Championship games.

“Michelle has been officiating G-MAC games as well as many other conferences for about 15 years,” said Great Midwest Officials Assigner Kim Vieria. “She did take one year off to start a family and came right back and has been instrumental in helping with G-MAC men and women's soccer.”

The Great Midwest Excellence in Officiating Award is presented to one male and one female official within the conference. The award is presented by the gender of the official regardless of the sport officiated. Each assigner in the conference put forth one male and one female nominee, followed by a vote by the conference’s Awards Committee.

“I’m truly honored to be named the female recipient of the 2024–25 Great Midwest Excellence in Officiating Award,” said Cowman McCoy. “It’s been a privilege to referee in this conference and be part of a community that values integrity, growth, and respect for the game. I’ve enjoyed every moment on the field and appreciate the recognition from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.”
