ASHLAND, Ohio- For the fourth straight year, the Ashland University Eagles secured their fourth straight Great Midwest Title.
Kari Pickens’ program will enter the field of 64 teams as an automatic qualifier in the NCAA Midwest Regional. The Eagles head into the extended postseason with a 30-3 overall record.
The season is not over for Hillsdale as they remain ranked in the region and will have a shot at an at-large bid. The NCAA Championship selection show will air Sunday, March 9 at 10:30 P.M. ET.
Hillsdale and Ashland went wire-to-wire in their second matchup of the season with 11 lead changes throughout the game. The Chargers led heading into the second half by a score of 34-27. The Eagles answered in the third quarter, outscoring Hillsdale 22-14 in the third and allowing just nine in the fourth.
Ashland was led by Ashley Mullet with 16 points and Sarah McKee with 14. Player of the Year Zoe Miller grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds while adding nine points for Ashland.
For Hillsdale, Caitlin Splain poured in a game-high 23 points, shooting nearly 50% from the field.
