Eagle Women At No. 5 In WBCA Coaches Poll As NCAA Postseason Approaches

Prior to the start of the 2025 NCAA Division II postseason, the Ashland University women's basketball team is ranked No. 5 in the final regular-season Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Coaches Poll.
 
The Eagles are 30-3, have won 24 straight games, and have won their fourth consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships. They will begin the D-II Midwest Regional tournament in Allendale, Mich., on Friday (March 14) at 2:30 p.m. vs. Ferris State (21-11).
 
Tuesday's poll is the 190th that Ashland has been a Top 25 team (70th in a row), the 161st in the Top 10 and 127th in the Top 5. The Eagles are 357-23 (.939) all-time as a ranked team in D-II.
 
Through the conference tourney, the Eagles are tied for No. 2 in the country in scoring defense (50.0 ppg. allowed), fourth in scoring margin (plus-20.5 ppg.), sixth in field-goal percentage (46.3) and 10th in rebounding margin (plus-9.0 rpg.). Senior forward Hayley Smith is third in D-II in total rebounds (365) and tied for seventh with 17 double-doubles, while senior guard Morgan Yoder is tied for 10th in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.30-to-1).
