INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest Athletes of the week for February 3rd, 2025 are based on student-athlete performance from January 27th, 2025- February 2nd, 2025.
Men’s Basketball
Tymoteusz Pszczola / Cedarville University/ So. / Forward / Lublin, Poland
Pszczola came off the bench and dominated for Cedarville in two big-time wins this past week. He recorded 18 points and five rebounds in a 81-65 win over the Hillsdale Chargers, followed by 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 77-70 victory over the Findlay Oilers. His mark of 12 rebounds is a career high.
Women’s Basketball
Erin Kaufman/ Malone University / Jr. / Forward / Glandorf, Ohio
The Pioneers continue to find wins, and Erin Kaufman was a catalyst in the team's victory over Tiffin this past week. She recorded an 18-point, 15-rebound double-double in just 19 minutes of action against the Dragons.
Men’s Bowling
Jared Pogue / Thomas More University/ Fr. / Hopkinsville, KY
Pogue was able to place 50th at the MSC Thomas N Burris Tournament with an average of 192 pins knocked down. During his time at the tournament, he knocked down 768 pins over the course of four games.
Women's Bowling
Baylee Spickard / Thomas More University/ Fr. / Lexington, KY
Spickard was on her game in the month of January. He posted two top 50 finishes, with a best mark of 38th occurring at the MSC Thomas N Burris Tournament. There, she knocked down 773 pins over four games for an average of 193.3. At the MSC Lynne Jordan memorial, she placed 48th with an average of 180.3 through four matches.
Men’s Indoor Field
Ben Haas/ Hillsdale College / Jr. / Clarkston, Mich.
Haas won multiple events at the Akron Invitational on Friday. He took first in the shot put with a personal best and a school record breaking throw of 18.67 meters. His record-breaking mark is currently the top in the conference and second-best in all of NCAA Division II this season. Also, Haas was able to take home a weight throw win of 21.45 meters, currently a top mark in D-II as well.
Men’s Indoor Track
Harry Ross-Hughes / Lake Erie College / Jr. /Wallasey, England
The Storm were able to get a sixth place finish at the Penn State National Open from Ross-Hughes, which was the highest finish among non-Division I athletes. In the process on his way to his impressive finish, he broke his own G-MAc and school record in the 800-meter with a time of 1:48.57. His efforts now rank him second in the nation with his time.
Women’s Indoor Field
Molly Winner/ Ashland University / So. / Yorkshire, Ohio
At the Midwest Classic, Winner had the top weight throw with a mark of 20.04 meters/65-feet-9. She is now the only woman in D-II this season to clear 20 meters in the weight throw, giving her the No. 1 mark in the nation at that level.
Women’s Indoor Track
Kylie Ray/ University of Findlay / Gr. / Pinckney, Mich.
Ray competed at the Penn State National Open, placing sixth in the Invite 400-meter. Her time of 54.78 was a school record, NCAA provisional mark and the fifth fastest in D-II. She also came ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.64, 17th best in D-II and an NCAA provisional mark. On the team side, she competed with the 4x400-meter relay team that finished first with a time of 3:40.70. This was also a school and G-MAC record, the second best time in D-II and an NCAA provisional mark.
