Women’s Basketball Climbs To No. 7 In Latest WBCA Coaches Poll

Heading into the last week of the 2024-25 regular season, Ashland University's women's basketball team has moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, revealed on Tuesday (Feb. 25) afternoon.
 
The Eagles are 25-3 overall and 17-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, having earned a fourth consecutive league regular-season title. AU has won an NCAA Division II-best 26 home games in a row, and has won 19 games in a row overall.
 
Ashland finishes the regular year on Thursday (Feb. 27) at 5:30 p.m. at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium vs. Findlay (19-8, 12-6), then on Saturday (March 1) at 1 p.m. at Walsh (9-17, 4-14).
 
Tuesday's poll is the 188th in which the Eagles have been a Top 25 team, the 159th in the Top 10, and the 68th in a row as a ranked team. AU is 352-23 (.939) all-time as a Top 25 side in D-II.

As of Monday (Feb. 24), the Eagles are third in D-II in scoring defense (49.8 ppg. allowed), fourth in scoring margin (plus-20.5 ppg.), fifth in field-goal percentage (46.4) and tied for seventh in 3-point percentage defense (24.6).
 
Individually, senior forward Hayley Smith is third in the country in total rebounds (314), tied for sixth in double-doubles (15), and 10th in rebounds per game (11.2).
