INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest Athletes of the week for February 10th, 2025 are based on student-athlete performance from February 3rd, 2025- February 9th, 2025.
 
Men’s Basketball
Rylee Mitchell / Thomas More University/ Jr. / Forward / Ft. Mitchell, KY.
Mitchell had a career-high in both games this past week for the Saints. When Thomas More took on Hillsdale, he recorded a career-high double-double with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Just days later, the Saints took on the Tiffin Dragons, where he had a career-high of 15 rebounds and three blocks. On the week, he tallied 32 total points, and 29 rebounds and went 60.9% from the field.
 
Women’s Basketball
Hayle Smith/ Ashland University / Sr. / Forward / Canton, Ohio
The No. 10 nationally ranked Eagles took home two big wins on the road at Malone and at Cedarville this past week. Senior forward Hayley Smith played a huge part in the wins as she averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds on the week, all while going 66.7% from the field. With her efforts on the glass, she moved into fourth place on AU's all-time rebounds list with 910. On the points side, she also now has 1,275, moving her into 16th place on the all-time Eagle list.
 
STUNT
Abby Rossow/ Davenport University/ So. / Base / Shelby Township, Mich.
Abby Rossow was unstoppable for Davenport in their first STUNT games of the 2025 season. Her first game saw 83 points in a 23-2 win over Ashland, followed by 63 points in a 24-0 sweep over the Malone Pioneers.
 
Men’s Indoor Field
Luke Eros/ Northwood University / So. / Howell, Mich.
Eros placed second at the Grand Valley State Mike Lints Alumni Open. He tossed a throw of 19.82 meters, a new PR. This gave him the seventh-best mark in Division II this season, improving his NCAA provisional and also putting him fourth in program history.
 
Men’s Indoor Track
D.J. Duncan / Ashland University / Sr. /Mansfield, Ohio
The Eagles hosted the Fourth Jud Logan Light Giver Open this past week and D.J. Duncan was elite. He finished second in the men's 60-meter hurdles in 7.82 seconds, a race that featured U.S. Olympian Trevor Bassitt. His time now ranks No. 4 in Division II in the men's 60 hurdles.
 
Women’s Indoor Field
Brooke Coulter/ University of Findlay / Gr. / Rochester Hills, Mich.
Coulter won the shot put in a field of 80 contestants at the Fourth Jud Logan Light Giver Open. Her mark met the NCAA provisional standard with a throw of 14.13 meters.
 
Women’s Indoor Track
Kylie Ray/ University of Findlay / Gr. / Pinckney, Mich.
Ray won the 800-meter run with an impressive NCAA provisional standard of 2:08.80 at the Fourth Jud Logan Light Giver Open. Her time was recorded as the ninth fastest time in Division II this season.
Men’s Tennis
Ellis Klanduch/ Hillsdale College / So. / Morresville, NC
This past weekend, Klanduch went 3-1 for the Hilldale Chargers. His weekend was marked by strong performances, winning a 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 match against Lake Superior State's Jordi Fraile Raton and a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Edinboro's Thomas Buchard. He also teamed with partner Henry Hammond to win at No. 1 doubles for the Chargers, 6-1 over a team from Lake Superior State 
Women’s Tennis
Anamarija Kovacevic/ University of Findlay / Jr. / Belgrade, Serbia
Kovacevic led the Oilers to an undefeated weekend where they took down Grand Valley State, 5-2, and Ferris State, 6-1. She went undefeated individually over the weekend, winning the No. 2 doubles match 6-2, winning and the No. 1 singles match 7-5, 6-4. Against Ferris State, she won the No. 2 doubles match 6-0, before winning her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-3.
