CLAREMORE, Okla. – Christian Nardelli's 86th minute tally gave No. 7 Cedarville a 1-0 win over No. 10 Northern Michigan in a Super Region 3 first round battle.

The Yellow Jackets, 12-1-7, advance to play host and No. 2 seed Rogers State in the second round on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Nardelli's diving header from eight yards out in the run of play came on a cross from Michael Catanzarite. His fifth goal of the season finally put Cedarville over the top.

The Jackets controlled most of the second half and outshot NMU 9-3 in the period and 16-8 for the game. They also had the edge in shots on goal, 8-3.

Eben Dewhurst made two saves and came away with his tenth shutout of the campaign.

 Stinger Notes:
  • Catanzarite, who leads the team in scoring, notched his first assist of the season.
  • Dewhurst's ten shutouts ties the school record previously set by older brother Ethan Dewhurst (2013) and Carter Selvius (2019).
  • Cedarville has advanced to the second round in all four trips to the NCAA Division II Championship.
  • It was the first-ever meeting in men's soccer between the two schools.
  • GLIAC champion Northern Michigan ends the season at 9-5-6.
