INDIANAPOLIS—Week four of the 2025-26 Great Midwest Wrestling season saw majority of G-MAC teams compete at the Findlay Open on Saturday, November 15
th.
The Findlay Open included in-conference opponents as well as division I wrestlers from Ohio State, Central Michigan, Indiana, and Bellarmine.
Findlay’s Nate Knowlton found himself in first place at 133 lbs. Knowlton strung together five wins on the day, including two by tech fall. The junior then went on to upset Lake Erie’s nationally-ranked Anthony Sagaris, who placed second in his weight class.
The G-MAC showed out at 149 lbs., sweeping the top three places as Dennis Lafon (LEC), Enzo Fourmann (AU), and Micah Cottrell (UF) all found themselves on the podium.
Thomas More’s Mark Ellis won by decision over McKendree’s Brady Metz 8-2 at 157 lbs.
The Oilers found another first-place finish at 165 lbs. as Gary Nilson joined Knowlton at the top of the podium. He posted four wins on the day to take home the gold. Tiffin’s Gavin Owens was the next-highest G-MAC finisher in the 165 lbs. weight class.
Ashland standout Sevriano Garzo finished the day 5-0 to win the 174 lbs. weight class. Garza’s wins included a pin at 4:17, two major decisions, and two decisions.
