The Great Midwest men’s basketball programs opened the 2025 season with non-
conference matchups on Friday, November 14. Through week one, the league registered an overall record of 12-12 with wins over opponents from the GLVC and GLIAC.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Findlay Oilers opened their season with two victories against Truman State and Quincy. Leading the charge for the Oilers was forward Alex Kendall as he averaged 16.5 points per game with 23 in the season opener. He added 6.5 rebounds, two assists and two blocks per game while shooting 73.7% from the field (14-of-19). Kendall was this week’s Athlete of the Week.
- The Lake Erie Storm opened their season with one victory over Lake Superior and another over Ferris State. Leading the Storms was newcomer Gavin Welch who went 6-for-8 from three. Trace Bishko, Kai Bloom, and Caelum Ethridge added 11 key first-half points while Amari Williams posted a double-double.
- The Walsh Cavaliers opened their season with two games in Puerto Rico against the University Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras and UPR Bayman. Six Cavaliers scored in double figures with forward Brayden Gross leading with 18. Gross also leading the team with six rebounds during the Piedras matchup. Against Rico-Bayman forward Kaleb Schaffer came off the bench making six threes and was nine for 12 on the day from the floor.
- The Ashland Eagles split their season openers with a loss against Grand Valley State and a victory over Wayne State. Returning Player of the Year Maceo Williams found a game-high 28 points on10-of-14 shooting from the field.
- The Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers opened their season defeating Indianapolis and a loss against Missouri S&T. During their opener Head Coach Drew Cooper found his 200th career win. Leading the charge was Ke’Andre Jones with 18 points.
- The Malone Pioneers opened their season opener with a victory over Lewis University and a loss against McKendree University. During their victory, center Emmanuel Oladeru led the charge with 16 points.
