OVERVIEW:
The Great Midwest women’s basketball programs opened the 2025 season with 11 non-conference matchups on Friday, November 14. Through week one, the league registered an overall record of 16-8 with wins over opponents from the GLVC and GLIAC.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Malone Pioneers, who were predicted to finish second in the conference, went 2-0 on the week with wins over Wayne State and UINDY. First-team all-conference returner Erin Kaufman led the way for the Pioneers, averaging 19.5 points through the pair of wins. She currently ranks second in rebounds with 9.5 per game and is shooting nearly 50% from the field.
- Hillsdale also collected a pair of wins, with Analise Pietrzyk at the helm of the success. She shot a whopping 69.2% from three-point range with nine total makes. For the week, she averaged 18 points, 5.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.5 three-pointers to earn Player of the Week honors.
- Findlay, Northwood, and Thomas More also collected two wins to open the 25-26 season. Northwood’s Lea Holmes leads the league in scoring with 22.5 points as she led the Timberwolves to victories over Saginaw Valley and Lake Superior State.
- The Thomas More Saints defeated Lincoln University 62-43 on Friday, forcing the Railsplitters to 15 turnovers. The Saints closed out the weekend with a 59-48 win over Missouri S&T. Serentit Webb led the Saints, recording a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
- Findlay defeated Lake Superior State and went on to win in a close 57-53 match against Saginaw Valley State. Senior Alyssa Ziehler led the Oilers in the win shooting 6-of-12 from the field for 14 points. She added nine rebounds, a block, and a steal to help the Oilers improve to 2-0.
- Cedarville’s Emma Kay Martin leads the league in scoring with an average of 22.5 points. The Yellow Jackets got their first win of the season in a close 62-60 victory over Truman State. Martin registered a career-high 30 points on 11-of-20 from the field.
- Walsh First-year head coach Johnny Montello earned his first career-victory in a 77-68 win over Davenport. Walsh’s Kiley Dyrlund finished the game with 25 points, shooting 12-17 from the field. Dyrlund leads the league in FG% at .643 as the Cavaliers sit at 1-1.
- Ashland’s Jenna Slates is averaging a league-high 10.5 rebounds as the Eagles picked up a win over UINDY.
