On Sept. 12 and 13, the Hillsdale College football program hosted its 12th annual Victory Day celebration. 24 members of the local community with special needs joined the Charger football team at the event on Friday night, where Hillsdale hosted them for a dinner and a night-time practice that gave all participants a fun-filled football experience. The following day, all 24 participants were invited to Hillsdale's home opener against Michigan Tech as guests of the program, ran out onto the field with the team, and were part of a special halftime show with help from players from nearby Hillsdale and Reading High Schools.

Victory Day is a program designed to grant a full game day football experience to special needs individuals in the Hillsdale County area. Participants run football drills, throw, run and catch the ball and have touchdown plays run for them by Hillsdale College football players on the Muddy Waters Stadium field. Victory Day was founded in 2010 by Aaron Segedi, a native of Riverview, who strongly believes that building character holds equal importance to teaching his students.
