G-MAC Volleyball: Week 7 Recap

OVERVIEW:

The Great Midwest volleyball teams competed in the 17th Annual Midwest Region Crossover on Friday Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18.  On day one, the G-MAC teams took a total of nine victories combined in the league. The league finished the crossover with an overall record of 13-26.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The Ohio Dominican Panthers ended the Midwest Region Crossover  going 3-0 against Quincy, Michigan Tech, and UIndy to extend their winning streak to nine straight matches.  Leading the charge for the Panthers was Jenna Peters as she recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 1 dig. Additionally, she added two blocks at the net.  The Panthers led the match on the offensive side as they recorded 60 kills to UIndy’s 48 and surpassed Michigan Tech in aces (10-3).

  • The Tiffin Dragons ended the Midwest Region Crossover going 3-0 against Upper Iowa University, Saginaw Valley State University, and University of Illinois Springfield, moving them to a 5-11 overall record.  Leading the way for the Dragons was Olivia Karhoff as she found 11 kills and three blocks.Teammates Maddie Danile found 11 kills as well and Maggie Pavlansky added 20 assists.  

  • The Findlay Oilers concluded the Midwest Region Crossover going 2-1 with wins against Northern Michigan and Indianapolis and a loss against Rockhurst.  This now moves the Oilers to 14-3 overall.  Leading the Oilers was Lauren Foerster as she found 47 kills (3.62 per/set) over the course of the weekend.  Highlight of the weekend included Oilers Hannah Miller reaching 1,000 career kills on the final day of the crossover.

  • The Northwood Timberwolves ended the Midwest Region Crossover going 2-1, with wins against Parkside and McKendree and a loss against Drury.  Leading the charge for their victories was Timberwolves Sage Kissman as she recorded a career-high of 26 kills, four digs and three blocks.  Trailing behind her was Renee Brines as she matches her career-high with 10 kills, 43 assists, two aces and three blocks.
