Eagle Women Move Up To No. 14 In WBCA Poll

Ashland University's women's basketball team continues its ascent up the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, making it to No. 14 in the latest edition released on Tuesday (Jan. 14) afternoon.
 
The Eagles, riding an eight-game winning streak and 14-3 overall and 6-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, will travel to Findlay (14-3, 7-1) for their next game on Thursday (Jan. 16) at 5:30 p.m..
 
Tuesday's poll is the 182nd in which Ashland has been in the Top 25, and it marks the 62nd consecutive poll with the Eagles as a ranked team. This is the second time this season Ashland has been in the No. 14 spot in the WBCA poll, and all-time, AU is 341-23 (.937) as a ranked squad.
 
Through Monday (Jan. 13), the Eagles rank in a tie for fourth in D-II in 3-point field-goal percentage defense (22.6), seventh in assists per game (18.1) and scoring defense (50.9 ppg.), eighth in scoring margin per game (plus-19.9 ppg.), and a tie for eighth in field-goal percentage (46.2).
 
Individually, senior forward Hayley Smith is second in the nation in total rebounds with 186.
