INDIANAPOLIS—After a decisive vote from the league’s Sports Information Directors, Findlay’s Tim Stollings was officially labeled as the winner of the 2023-24 Great Midwest Conference Male Athlete of the Year award Wednesday afternoon.
The Great Midwest Male Athlete of the Year is traditionally presented on an annual level to a nominee based on accomplishments and contributions to their specific sports and the institution’s overall athletic program.
Stollings is just the second swimming & diving athlete to receive the prestigious award since it was first introduced during the 2012-13 academic year.
During the 2023-24 season, Stollings won the G-MAC Swimmer of the Year after winning five events at the conference championship including the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 400 free relay, 100 butterfly, and 100 backstroke.
At the national championship event, Stollings earned his second national title in the 100 butterfly as well as seven all-American honors.
Stollings joins Mary Kelly Mulcahy as the fourth and fifth Oilers to receive the Athlete of the Year honors. The two follow the footsteps of 2022-24 national swimming & diving champions Daniel Garcia, all-American golfer Kristina Kniesly, and 2018-19 track & field national champion Eldred Henry.
