INDIANAPOLIS—The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced promotions for two conference office staff members on Monday afternoon.
Katie Gilhooly has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner while Jamie Halloran has been named the Director of Communications.
“Katie and Jamie have had a significant impact on the G-MAC's success over the past few years and I look forward to what they each will accomplish as they take on additional responsibilities in the conference this fall,” said Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger. “Their passion to enhance the experiences for our student-athletes and their commitment to the services the league provides has had a positive impact.”
Katie Gilhooly, Assistant Commissioner
Gilhooly has been named Assistant Commissioner after spending her first two years with the Great Midwest as the Operations and Media Coordinator and Director of Digital Media and Communications.
“In her time with the G-MAC, Katie has assisted in transitioning the Great Midwest Digital Network to a new provider, facilitated brand awareness, and has embraced leadership opportunities. She will be tasked with assisting the Conference in supporting corporate partners and serving as primary liaison to the G-MAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in the new role.”
Under her new title, Gilhooly will continue to spearhead the Great Midwest Digital Network operations, while assuming new responsibilities in sponsorship, student-athlete development, and committee service.
Gilhooly came to the office in 2021 after an extensive career in sports broadcasting.
Jamie Halloran, Director of Communications
Halloran assumes the role of Director of Communications after serving as the Assistant Director of Communications since August of 2022.
“Jamie has excelled in supporting our communication professionals over the past two years and will assume primary responsibilities over the strategic communication efforts of the league moving forward. Her new role will encompass opportunities to serve additional sport and governing committees and her strong work ethic will serve her and the league well as she transitions to Director in 2024.”
Halloran will now lead the communications efforts within the conference and its 13 members. While she will oversee a broad range of Great Midwest communications strategies, Halloran’s main focus will be in the Sports Information space, where she will manage weekly statistical reports, weekly releases, yearly publications, and the conference’s website.
In her new role, Halloran will continue to work with the Great Midwest Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as oversee several other conference committees.
Halloran came to the conference office in 2022 after spending six years at member institution Walsh as both a student-athlete and graduate assistant.
