Walsh Wins Fourth Straight Title

NORTH CANTON, Ohio- The Walsh Women’s lacrosse team claimed its fourth straight Great Midwest Championship on Saturday afternoon after going wire-to-wire with Findlay.
 
Both teams scored one goal in the first quarter before the Oilers took a 5-3 lead heading into the second half.
 
A Tessa Chuba goal opened up the second half to put Findlay ahead 6-3. The Cavaliers answered with a goal from Kaytlyn Tokar to put Walsh within two.
 
Findlay and Walsh exchanged goals before the Cavaliers took the lead with 4:34 remaining.
 
Walsh was led by Rachel Black who scored a game-high four goals. Kaytlyn Tokar added three while Mallory Miller, Isabella Kelty, Grace Santee, Sidney Kliger, and Katie Coomes scored one goal apiece. Kelty and Miller were all-tournament team selections as well as Alexa Panetta and MVP Rebekah Bargeron.
 
Findlay was led by Offensive Player of the Year Tessa Chuba who connected on three goals. Chuba joined Madeline Shewbridge and Olivia Bakowski as members of the all-tournament team.
