Findlay Sweeps as Outdoor Track and Field Champions

HILSDALE,Mich., The Great Midwest Outdoor Track & Field Championship trophies went to both the Findlay men and women. The women earned their third title in four years while the men captured their second.
 
The Findlay women finished with 194.50 points, 42.5 points ahead of runner-up Ashland. The men collected 189 points while the Tiffin men finished second with 157 points.
 
Findlay’s Trista Fintel was awarded the female Field Athlete of the Meet after totaling 30 points. Fintel finished first in the hammer throw and shot put. In the hammer, she tossed a mark of 59.51m, while heaving the shot put 15.14m.
 
Jordan Taylor, also from Findlay, took home the female Track Athlete of the Meet award after collecting 24.50 points. She finished first in the 100m dash, clocking a time of 11.77. Taylor then went on take home the gold in the 200 with a time of 24.05.
 
Ashland’s Hailey Rios was the top-scoring freshman on the women’s side with 25.5 points. Rios was a member of the winning 4x400 relay team as well as the 4x100 team that earned runner-up.
 
Malachi Adams was the top-scoring male track athlete with 24.50 points. Adams found himself atop the podium in the both the 100m dash (10.27) and 200m dash (20.57). He helped the Dragons earn runner-up status at the meet.
 
Hunter Tresnan-Reighard was awarded the male Field Athlete of the Meet after finishing first in the shot put with a throw of 16.57m. He then went on to win the discus with a 49.07m mark.
 
In the next week, Great Midwest track & field coaches will compete at last chance meets to improve their athletes’ chances at the upcoming national championships. The NCAA meet will run May 23-25 in Emporia, Kansas.
