INDIANAPOLIS—NCAA Division II has announced the recipients of the 50
th Anniversary Scholarship, worth over $1,000. A total of 46 student-athletes were selected to receive the scholarships.
Two individuals from the Great Midwest were among the 46 selected. Alaysia Brooks of Ursuline College as well as Jalin Pitchford from Northwood were selected to receive the scholarship.
Brooks, track & field student-athlete, was crowned a national champion in the women’s 800m during the indoor season. A junior from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Brooks is also a standout in the classroom and in the community, volunteering at local food banks and women’s shelters.
Pitchford is a senior linebacker on the Northwood football team majoring in business management with a focus in operation supply chain. He was named a recipient of the scholarship after exemplfying the Division II Lif in the Balance philosophy.
Both Brooks and Pitchford were presented with the scholarship at the Divison II Festival in Orlando.
