AKRON, Ohio- The Trevecca Nazarene Trojans swept all individual awards as the Great Midwest announced the 2024 Softball Al-Conference teams Wednesday afternoon. Kendall Andrews and Ashlan Sensing earned Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors, while Anabelle Ellis was voted the league’s top freshman. The awards will be presented during the first day of the Great Midwest Softball Championship, which is being played at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
Andrews, a senior from Murfreesboro, TN., leads the league with 14 home runs this season. She is batting .422 this season with a .825 slugging percentage. Andrews ranks first in the G-MAC in RBIs (63), runs scored (53), and stolen bases (45). Her 45 stolen bases sits at No. 12 in all of D2. During the regular season, Andrews sported a fielding percentage of 0.988 while playing catcher.
Sensang is a junior from Dickson, TN, recorded a 12-2 conference record in the circle. She led the league with an ERA of 1.20 while striking out 91 batters through 162 innings. Sensang sits atop the league standings earned runs allowed (8), most games started (21), and most shutouts (9).
In her collegiate debut, Annabelle Ellis ranked second in the conference in hits with 34 and fourth in RBIs with 22. The third basemen registered a fielding percentage of .979 while starting 51 of 52 regular season contests.
Ben Tyree, also from Trevecca, was voted as Great Midwest Softball Coach of the Year. Tyree coached TNU to the top seed in the conference tournament as well as a regular season title with a 23-3 record and a 41-11 overall mark.
Tiffin's Bailey Hamilton was the Elite 26 Award winner for academic excellence. Hamilton earned the awrd as a graduate student majoring in exercise science.
This year’s tournament will be played over the course of four days, beginning at Noon ET on May 1. The double elimination bracket features the top eight teams from the conference based on winning percentage. The top two teams will advance to the finals, set for Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 A.M. ET.
