Pitcher
Jake Jekielek / Northwood University / Sr. / Pitcher / Sterling Heights, Mich
Northwood’s Jake Jekielek picked up a win and a save in three appearances for the Timberwolves. He finished the week with a 0.00 ERA over 5 2/3 innings pitched, allowing just four singles, striking out 11, and walking zero batters. He earned the win against Wayne State, allowing just one hit over two innings while striking out three. Jekielek then earned a save in game one against Hillsdale, tossing a three inning shutout.
Player
Jack Mathey / Ohio Dominican University / Jr. / Catcher / Copley, Ohio
Jack Mathey registered a batting average of .548, going 11-24 from the plate in a 5-1 week for the Panthers. Mathey’s 11 hits included two doubles and one home run for six RBIs.
Women’s Golf
Mary Kelly Mulcahy / University of Findlay/ Jr. / Lima, Ohio
Mulcahy had another historic week for the Oilers, recording her sixth individual win of the season. She finished the UMSL Spring Invitational with rounds of 72-67-71 to finish 210 (-3). Mulcahy has won six of the 10 events this season and has never finished worse than 6
th place.
Dakota Finn
Dakota Finn / Thomas More University/ Sr. / Union, Ky.
Thomas More’s Dakota Finn finished third individually at the IUK Spring Invitational. He fired rounds of 73,79 to finish 152.
Men’s Lacrosse
Defensive:
Joseph Rush / Walsh University / Jr. /Faceoffs/ North Huntington, PA
In Walsh’s third consecutive win, Joseph Rush went 22-29 on faceoffs while adding 13 ground balls. Rush has 130 ground balls on the season, breaking the Great Midwest single season record.
Offensive:
Andrew Cramer / Lake Erie College / So. / Midfield/ Frederick, MD
Lake Erie’s Andrew Cramer came up big for the Storm, scoring five goals on just six shots on goal. He dished out a pair of assists to total a career-high seven points.
Women’s Lacrosse
Defensive:
Mallory Miller / Walsh University/ Jr. /Midfield/ Noblesville, Ind.
For the third time this season, Walsh’s Mallory Miller has claimed the defensive athlete of the week award. Miller helped the Cavaliers secure the regular season title with a win over Malone. She had five draw controls, picked up four ground balls, caused three turnovers and had one goal.
Offensive:
Tessa Chuba / University of Findlay / So. /Attack/ Hartland, Mich.
Tessa Chuba led the Oilers to a 2-0 week with wins over Ashland and Tiffin. She totaled 10 goals through the two games and had five assists. Chuba added three ground balls and 14 draw controls in her effort.
Men’s Outdoor Field
Cass Dobrowlski / Hillsdale College / Jr. / Burtchville, Mich.
Hillsdale’s Cass Dobrowlski had a record-breaking weekend for the Chargers, becoming just the second athlete in G-MAC history to clear sevem feet in the high jump. He cleared a personal best mark of 2.14 meters to win the Hillsdale Complex Opener. His mark currently ranks eighth in the nation at the Division II level. Dobrowlski also took second in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the javelin.
Men’s Outdoor Track
Joshua Page / Tiffin University / Jr. / Detroit, Mich.
Tiffin’s Joshua Page finished top three in each of his events at the Ohio State Jesse Owens Classic. He took first place in the 400m with a time of 46.79. His time is the fastest in the conference and seventh fastest in the country. He then was a member of the 4x100m relay team that took home second place. Page finished the event with a third place finish in the 200m in 21.40.
Women’s Outdoor Field
Paige Emnett / University of Findlay / Sr. / Wheelersburg, Ohio
Paige Emnett took home fifth in the hammer throw in a field of Division I opponents. Emnett hauled a mark of 56.39m, ranking 10
th in D2 this season. She also was 15
th in the discus with a throw of 41.51m.
Women’s Outdoor Track
Kylie Ray / University of Findlay / Sr. / Pinckney, Ohio
Ray took second in the 400m hurdles, clocking a time of 59.53. Her time is the 4
th best in D2 this season. She was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that earned runner-up with an NCAA provisional time of 46.02
Softball
Pitcher:
Grace Hammer / Ohio Dominican University / Gr. / Pitcher / Uniontown, Ohio
Grace Hammer went 2-0 in the circle for the Panthers this week. She grabbed two saves in 16.2 innings of work with a 0.00 ERA. The grad student gave up just nine hits while retiring 18 batters.
Player:
Maggie Olaveson / Hillsdale College / So. / Outfield / Chelsea, Mich.
Olaveson went 6-10 on the week to finish with an batting average of .600. Her six hits included three home runs for four RBIs. On the season, she is currently hitting .399 and is tied in the league with 13 home runs.
Men’s Tennis
Joan Dasi / Walsh University / Fr. / Lallosa De Ranes, Spain
The Walsh freshman went undefeated in both doubles and singles play with wins over Hillsdale and Northwood.
Women’s Tennis
Jemimah Choi / Tiffin University / Fr. / Wrexham, U.K.
Jemimah Choi went unbeaten on the week, going 4-0 in both singles and doubles. She posted singles wins over UIndy, 7-6, 6-3 and Findlay 6-1,7-5.
