Eagles Crowned Conference Champions for Third Straight Year

ASHLAND, Ohio- In repeat of the previous two years, Ashland demonstrated why they are the No. 1 team in the conference and country, securing their third straight Great Midwest title.
 
The Eagles dismantled opponents in the three-game series of the Great Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball tournament.
 
Kari PIcken’s program will enter the field of 64 teams as an automatic qualifier in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional. The Eagles head into the extended postseason with a 30-1 overall record.
 
The season is not over for Trevecca, as they remain ranked in the region and will have a shot at an at-large bid. The NCAA Championship selection show will air Sunday, March 10 at 10:30 P.M. ET.
 
Ashland  couldn’t seem to miss early on, pouring in 58 first-half points while shooting 67.65% from the field, including nine threes. The Eagles led 58-30 heading into the second half.
 
The defensive efforts of Ashland held Trevecca to only 58 points while forcing the Trojans to 15 turnovers.
 
Five Eagles finished with double-digits, led by tournament MVP Erin Daniels with 17. Daniels is joined by Annie Roshak and Savaya Brockington on the all-tournament team. Roshak was 6-9 from the field and finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Brockington posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists.
 
Trevecca’s Keeley Carter had a game-high 22 points on the day. Carter, as well as Faith Wilken, were also selected as all-tournament honorees. Wilken finished with eight points and three rebounds.
 
Malone’s Erin Kaufman and Thomas More’s Rylee Turner round out the all-tournament selections.
