Cavaliers Capture Fourth Great Midwest Basketball Title

NORTH CANTON, Ohio- The No. 2 seed Walsh University won their fourth Great Midwest Men’s Basketball title Saturday afternoon with a 65-56 win over No. 4 Thomas More University. Junior Garrison Keeslar led the Cavaliers with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, earning him the tournament’s MVP award.
 
Walsh (24-5), ranked sixth in the most recent Midwest region rankings, earned the automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA tournament.
 
Both teams fought hard as there were 15 lead changes throughout the contest.
 
The Cavaliers enjoyed a 50.9 FG%, shooting 27-53 on the day.
 
Zack Oddo, another all-tournament team selection, poured in 15 points for Walsh. Kobe Mitchell joins Keeslar and Oddo as an all-tournament selection.
 
Jacob Jones led the Saints in their first conference championship debut with 18 points.  Jones is joined by Reid Jolly on the all-tournament team. Jolly finished with 14 points.
 
Cedarville’s Jaycon Maughmer and Tiffin’s Wesley Jordan round out the all-tournament team selections.
 
Walsh and Kentucky Wesleyan are ranked in the most recent Midwest regional rankings. The Cavaliers will earn the automatic qualifying bid while the Panthers will look to earn and at-large bid.
