Pitcher
Logan Bragg / University of Findlay/ Sr. / Pitcher / Newark, Ohio
Logan Bragg had a stellar week on the mound for the Oilers. Bragg earned a win against Cedarville, pitching a complete game shutout. In his nine innings, Bragg allowed just three hits while striking out eight batters and allowing no runs.
Player
Cam Miller / Ashland University / Jr. / Center Field / Dayton, Ohio
Ashland’s Cam Miller led the Eagles to a 4-1 week with wins over Notre Dame College and conference opponent Lake Erie. Miller was 9 of 18 from the plate to finish the week with a batting average of .500. His nine hits included four RBIs and four runs scored. In game one against Lake Erie, Miller hit a walk off to secure the 4-3 victory.
Women’s Golf
Mary Kelly Mulcahy / University of Findlay/ Jr. / Lima, Ohio
The top-ranked golfer in Division II, Mary Kelly Mulcahy, earned G-MAC Golfer of the Week honors after a record-breaking performance. Mulcahy won medalist honors at the Findlay Spring Invite with rounds of 73, 67, and 75 to finish with a score of 215 (-1). Her 67 round ties the second-best 18-hole performance in school history. Mulcahy’s win is her third this year and and seventh of her career.
Men’s Lacrosse
Defensive:
Jared Chantz / Seton Hill University / So. /Faceoffs/ Butler, PA
Seton Hill’s Jared Chantz won 19 of 26 faceoffs in a pair of victories over the week. In addition to his .731 faceoff percentage, Chants also picked up 13 ground balls.
Offensive:
Zac Smargiasso / Malone University / So. / Midfield/ Copley, Ohio
Zac Smargiasso earned offensive player of the week after tabbing five goals and five assists to lead the Pioneers to their fourth straight victory. Smargiasso connected on five of eight of his shots on goal while also scooping up three ground balls in a win over Virginia State.
Defensive:
Rebekah Bargeron / Walsh University / So. /Goalkeeper/ Herriman, UT
Walsh’s Rebekah Bergeron led the Cavaliers to a 1-1 week, including a win over conference opponent Lake Erie. Bargeron registered a program record 19 saves against Northern Michigan and then went on to add three more in a win over Lake Erie. For the week, the sophomore goalie posted a goals-against average of 6.84 with 22 saves in 79 minutes in goal.
Offensive:
Tessa Chuba / University of Findlay / So. /Attack/ Hartland, Mich.
In a split week for Findlay, Tessa Chuba scored a team-high seven goals and dished out three assists. She picked up four ground balls, won 19 draw controls, and caused five turnover for the week.
Men’s Outdoor Field
Thomas Flud / Hillsdale College / Fr. / Pennsburg, PA
Thomas Flud broke a 37-year old program record and the G-MAC record in the javelin. The Freshman threw a mark of 61.68 meters at the Alan Connie Invite and followed it up with a throw of 54.42 meters at the Lee Invite. His mark currently ranks 13
th in the nation in D2.
Men’s Outdoor Track
Richie Johnston / Hillsdale College / Jr. / Scottsdale, AZ
Richie Johnston opened the outdoor season with a provisional qualifying mark in the steeplechase. Johnston registered a time of 9:11.95 to earn a first-place finish at the Lee Invite. His time ranks eighth in Division II and first in the G-MAC this season.
Women’s Outdoor Field
Katie Weldy / Hillsdale College / Sr. / Brownsburg, IN
Katie Weldy set a new personal best in the hammer throw at the Lee Invite. She threw for a mark of 57.31 meters, which ranks fifth in conference history. Her 57.31 meters is the third best in the nation to date.
Women’s Outdoor Track
Shura Ermakov / Hillsdale College / Sr. / Berea, Ohio
Hillsdale earned a complete sweep of track & field awards this week as Shura Ermakov won the 400m hurdles at Lee University over the weekend. Ermakov clocked a time of 1:01.48, a provisional qualifying mark and the sixth fastest in D2 this season. She then followed up to finish runner-up in the 100m hurdles.
Softball
Pitcher:
Ashlan Sensing / Trevecca Nazarene University / Jr. / Pitcher / Dickson, Tenn.
For the second time this season, Trevecca’s Ashlan Sensing earned pitcher of the week honors. Sensing went 3-0 on the week with an ERA of 1.56. She struck out 29 batters through 18 innings of play while only walking two batters and giving up 11 hits.
Player:
Kendall Andrews / Trevecca Nazarene University / Sr. / Catcher / Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Kendall Andrews earned player of the week honors for the second straight week. Andrews led the Trojans to a 6-0 week, hitting .643 on 9-14 from the plate. Her nine hits included three home runs and one double for 10 RBIs. She finished the week with a 1.357 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .783.
STUNT
Alyssa McLaughlin / Ashland University / Jr. / Kenton, Ohio
Alyssa McLaughlin led the way for the Eagles, scoring 61 points against Ursuline. McLaughlin then followed up with a 35 point performance against Hiram, where she became the first person in program history to hit 200 rounds in a single season.
Men’s Tennis
Arthur Bord / University of Findlay / Fr. / Bordeaux, France
Arthur Bord went undefeated at No. 1 singles this week, including an upset over the No. 11 ranked singles player in the country. His upset included victories of 7-6,7-1, and 6-3. He then went on to string together wins over Walsh at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.
Women’s Tennis
Anaelle Lepinay / Tiffin University / Jr. / Saint Barthelemy, France
Anaelle Lepinay went 4-0 as Tiffin posted a 4-3 win over No. 11 Wayne State. Lepinay had a three-set singles win while also beating Ursuline by scores of 6-0 and 6-0. She also tabbed wins at No. 1 singles 7-5 and 6-0.
