19 Student-Athletes Qualify for Swimming & Diving National Championship

INDIANAPOLIS—After competing at the Great Midwest/ Mountain East Conference Championships, the postseason will continue for several swimming student-athletes from Findlay and Hillsdale.
 
The NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship qualifiers were announced Wednesday afternoon for Division II as the nation’s best will pack their bags for Geneva, Ohio.
 
Student-athlete qualifiers either hit “B” or “A” cur standards throughout the 2023-24 campaign.
 
After winning Great Midwest / Mountain East Swimmer of the Meet award in Canton, Findlay graduate student Tim Stollings qualified for nationals in the 100 backstroke and 100 fly. This is Stollings’ fifth national championship appearance.
 
Also qualifying from the Oilers is Camilo Marrugo in the 100 and 200 butterfly.
 
Luca Chiandussi, Matteo Filippi, Marko Priednieks, Sein Kawas, Randy Keener, and Santiago Arteaga round out qualifiers on the men’s side.
 
For the women, standout Emily Mears-Bentley qualified for a conference high four events including the 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 individual medley, and 100 free.
 
Troie Grubbs, Sasha Melnyk, and Katie Susi join Mears-Bentley as individual qualifiers from Findlay.
 
The relay team of Sydney Jones, Sofia Lesmes Montes, Abbie Kmet, and Macee Reckard also qualified for the Oilers.
 
From Hillsdale, the duo of Elise Mason and Megan Clifford qualified in the 1,650 free and 200 fly, respectively.
 
In total, 19 student-athletes from the Great Midwest will swim at the national meet. The championship will be held March 12-16 at the SPIRE Institute Aquatics Center in Geneva, Ohio.
