Ottawa, Ohio - Pior to the start of the historic 2024 season, the University of Findlay volleyball team spent a rewarding day volunteering at Challenged Champions Equestrian Center in Ottawa, Ohio, a non-profit organization that provides equine-assisted activities for individuals with special needs. Trading their usual practice gear for work gloves, the players dedicated their time to support the center's mission of empowering people of all abilities.
The team took on a variety of tasks, including painting fences, oiling tack, staining cabins, and sanitizing the sensory rooms used for therapeutic activities. These efforts helped maintain the center's welcoming environment and ensure it remains a safe and functional space for participants.
"
This experience was really impactful for us," said assistant coach Hannah Tong. "
It showed us how much a team can accomplish together, whether it's on the court or in the community." By learning about the center's mission and working together to make a difference, the players strengthened their bonds and their commitment to service.
