The 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference champions have made their way to the 2024 NCAA Division II postseason.
Ashland University's football team (8-3) found out on Sunday (Nov. 17) night that it will make its ninth all-time D-II playoff appearance on Saturday (Nov. 23) at Charleston, W.Va. (11-0).
Game time and more information will be announced later.
Ashland football has played in the NCAA Division II postseason eight previous times (1986, 1997, 2007-08, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2022).
The other opening-round matchups in Super Region 1 are New Haven (8-2) at Slippery Rock (9-1), and East Stroudsburg (10-1) at California, Pa. (8-2). No. 1-seed Kutztown earned a first-round bye.
A 28-team tournament (seven teams in each of four super regions), the D-II postseason will begin on Saturday. The 2024 NCAA Division II football national championship game will be Dec. 21 in McKinney, Tex..
In Super Region 1, there is earned access from four conferences – the Great Midwest, Mountain East, Northeast-10 and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Forty-three teams in the super region are eligible for postseason play – nine from the Great Midwest, 10 from the Mountain East, nine from Northeast-10 and 15 from the PSAC.
