The Hillsdale College Student Athlete Advisory Committee continued a beloved tradition on Sunday, Oct. 27 by hosting its fifth annual Trunk or Treat in the Roche Sports Complex Parking Lot.
Members of all 16 of Hillsdale’s varsity sports teams, as well as representatives from other student organizations from across campus, handed out candy to children from the community and gave them the opportunity to play coordinated games at sport-themed Trick or Treat stations.
Several hundred children from the Hillsdale area attended the event, which provides area kids with a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween.
Along with giving athletes a chance to interact with children in the community, the event also served asa fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as Hillsdale SAAC asked attendees to help donate to support the Make-A-Wish cause if they were able. Thanks to generous support from families in thecommunity, the Chargers were able to raise over $350 for the organization.
“Our goal is to connect college students and the athletic department with ways to give back to our community,” said Nikki Walbright, faculty advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. “We appreciate the students and community members whose hard work helped
make this event a success.”
