Great Midwest Competes at 16th Annual Midwest Crossover

HAMMOND, Ind.- On Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19, all 13 Great Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball teams traveled to Hammond, Ind., to participate in the Midwest Crossover Tournament. Overthe course of the weekend, the G-MAC had a few standout performances, most notably coming from the Hillsdale Chargers.

The Chargers started their tournament on Friday against Wisconsin-Parkside, where they took away a 3-1 win. Marilyn Popplewell and Amanda Hilliker led the charge for Hillsdale, as they recorded 15 kills and 26 digs respectively. While they fell to Rockhurst University on Saturday, they capped off their tournament with a nail-biting win over Maryville University. The 3-0 sweep saw the opening two sets won by just two points for the Chargers, with the second set going to a score of 30-28. Popplewell yet again stood out with 13 kills to lead theoffensive marks for Hillsdale.

Other notable matches outside the Chargers came from Northwood, Findlay, Cedarville and Walsh. All of them were able to leave the tournament with wins under their belts.

Up next, members of the G-MAC will resume action this Tuesday, Oct. 22, where Lake Erie will
take on Glenville State in Painesville, Ohio, at 5:00 p.m. EST.
