INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest Athletes of the week for January 8th, 2024 are based on student-athlete performance from December 19th, 2023- January 7th, 2024.
 
Men’s Basketball
Jalen Page / Trevecca Nazarene University / Jr. / Guard / Murfreesboro, Tenn.
For the third time this season, Jalen Page has earned Athlete of the Week honors after producing three 20 point performances for the Trojans. In a win over Ashland, Page dropped five three-pointers while handing out seven assists and grabbing six rebounds. Over a four game span, he averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native ranks second in the conference in scoring with 19.8 points per game.
 
Women’s Basketball
Sophia Kline / Ursuline College / Fr. / Forward / Sugar Grove, Ohio
Ursuline’s Sophia Kline helped the arrows improve to 12-2 on the year. Over four games, Kline averaged 15.3 points per game and grabbed 9.5 rebounds for the Arrows. She shot 52.5% from the field and 81.8% from the charity stripe. Kline posted back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Purdue Northwest and Walsh. She tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds versus PNW and went on to score 21 points and grab 13 rebounds against Walsh.
 
Wrestling
Christian Small / Lake Erie College / Sr. / 149 lbs. / Canton, GA
Lake Erie’s Christian Small compiled a perfect 4-0 record at the NWCA National Duals. He earned two ranked wins against the No. 1 and No. 12 ranked wrestlers in the 149 lbs. weight class. Small went on to record a major decision win in his match against Newberry in the 157 lbs. weight class. He led the Storm to a 10th place team finish.
