Ashland Wins School's First Presidents' Cup

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in program history, Ashland University has captured the Great Midwest Presidents’ Cup for the 2022-2023 season.
 
The Eagles received points for five championships this academic year in football, volleyball, women’s basketball, STUNT, and men’s golf. Ashland competes in 23 of the 26 championship sports the Great Midwest sponsored during the 2022-2023 season. Of those 23 sports, the Eagles finished in the top half of the standings in 18 sports combining for 170 total points to win the cup.
 
Ashland nearly edged four-time defending Presidents’ Cup champion Findlay by one point. The Oilers finished the 2022-2023 season as runner-up with 169 total points and seven championships. Findlay was credited with championships in wrestling,
 
Tiffin University comes in third place with 147.5 total points with championships in men’s soccer and men’s outdoor track & field. The Dragons also captured points for championships in men’s and women’s tennis.
 
The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Presidents’ Cup is awarded to the member institution that has the highest score for sports sponsored within the Great Midwest. Points shall be awarded based on winning percentage in regular season standings for those team sports with a conference schedule and standings. Points shall be awarded based on results of the championship meet for those sports without a regular season conference schedule.
