SPRINGFIELD, Ill.- Two Great Midwest teams punched their ticket to the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championship, announced Wednesday afternoon. Both Findlay and Tiffin are among the six teams in the East Region that will participate in the National Championship, slated for May 16-20.
The Oilers were crowned East Regional Champions after shooting 862 to close out the 54 holes. Findlay’s Gabby Woods topped all individual scores with rounds of 70-75-69 (214) to earn medalist. Three other Oilers found themselves in the top-ten individual finishers. Mary Kelly Mulcahy finished tied for fourth, while Hayley Dye finished tied for sixth. Jill Schmitmeyer earned an eighth-place finish to help the Oilers advance.
Tiffin University qualified after a fifth place finish, firing a collective score of 910. This is the second time in program history Tiffin has qualified for the national championship.
The National Championship will be played in Eureka, Missouri at the Fox Run Golf Club, with the top teams and individuals advancing from their respective regions.
