LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two of the top teams in the region in Findlay and Tiffin will go head-to-head in the Great Midwest Women’s Golf medal match Saturday morning.
Findlay (290-296-222=878), the favorite, maintained a steady lead throughout the 54 holes to earn a spot in the medal match for the second consecutive year. Tiffin (302-304-309=915) finished second through the third round. The Walsh Cavaliers cracked the top three with a score of 953.
The Oilers placed three individuals on the all-conference team, including medalist Gabby Woods. Woods shot a total of 214 (-2). She is joined by teammates Mary Kelly Mulcahy(E) and Jill Schmitmeyer(+4), who finished third and fourth respectively.
Tiffin landed a pair of student-athletes in the top-eight finishers, led by Lisa Marie Schumacher. Schumacher shot rounds of 74-68-73 for a total of 215(-1). She is joined by Michaela Lindahl (+14), who finished seventh overall.
Sydney Devore from Ohio Dominican shot 227 for a fifth place finish.
Walsh’s Freshman Sydney Hugo found herself in sixth place with rounds of 77-76-75 to finish +12.
Jodie Taylor of Trevecca Nazarene rounds out the top-eight with a score of 231.
Ohio Dominican’s Abbey Dillon was awarded the Elite 26 Award for Academic Excellence. Dillon is a junior majoring in Psychology.
Findlay and Tiffin will play in a single-round medal match for the championship, beginning tomorrow at 8:30 A.M. ET. Live scoring as well as a livestream of the 18
th green will be available.
