NEW ORLEANS, La.- Both Findlay Men’s and Women’s Track & Field programs cracked the national rankings, released Tuesday afternoon. The women are slotted at No. 12, while the men are voted at the No.24 spot.
The programs had successful a weekend competing at the Jesse Owens Classic as well as the Mike Becraft Invitational.
Several Oilers earned first-places finishes in both competitions. On the men’s side, three student-athletes took home the gold in their respective events, including Eyan Wilson (Discus), Mason Smith (Long Jump), Jordan Foster (800m), and Josh Verhoff (100m).
Kylie Ray and Trista Fintel headlined performances on the women’s side, earning both Athlete of the Week honors. Ray recorded a personal-best time in the 400m hurdles (59.61). Fintel moved up in the national rankings, throwing a mark of 15.49m in the shot put. Her mark is third in the country and a personal-best. She also ranks 10
th in the nation in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.94m.
Findlay will be back in action April 27 at the Walsh Tune-Up in North Canton, Ohio.
