ASHLAND, Ohio-- The championship showdown is set as Ashland and Trevecca Nazarene meet for the conference crown Saturday afternoon. The two teams advanced with semifinal wins on Friday night.
Semifinal Game One - 5 P.M. ET : Ashland (1) 80, Malone (4) 56
Annie Roshak scored 26 points to lead top seeded Ashland past a tough fourth-seeded Malone team 80-56 in the first semifinal matchup of the day. Malone’s Brooklyn Troyer was the high-scorer for the Pioneers with 14 points.
Malone (21-9) shot 38.2% for the game and kept pace with the Eagles in the first half of play. The score was 39-32 heading into halftime before Ashland outscored Malone 20-10 in the third quarter.
Ashland (30-0) shot 29-60 from the field, highlighted by a 12-for-17 effort by Roshak. The Great Midwest Player of the Year also grabbed seven rebounds.
The Eagles converted 15 points off 16 turnovers while their bench contributed 30 of their 80 total points.
Semifinal Game Two - 7:30 P.M. ET : Trevecca Nazarene (3) 58, Kentucky Wesleyan (2) 48
Trevecca (21-8) exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Kentucky Wesleyan 18-4 to extend their lead 50-35 heading into the final quarter. Keeley Carter led the Trojans with 17 points and Lill Wilken added 13.
KWC (23-6) led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter before Trevecca led the next 10 minute 32-31.
Trevecca converted 15 turnovers to 11 points and shot 40.4% from the field, while holding the Panthers to a .283 shooting percentage.
